Port Isabel Lighthouse, Texas

23rd National Post Card Week
May 7-13, 2006

Port Isabel Lighthouse was built in 1853, and operated until 1905.  I was used by both the Confederate and Union forces during the Civil war for observation.  Now open to the public, it is operated by the Texas Parks and Wildlife.  You may climb a spiral stairway (74) steps) to the top for a spectacular view across Laguna Madre to South Padre Islands.

Set your course for the Gulf of Mexico and sail into the port for a visit to the Rio Grande Valley.
