The lighthouse is named for the fact that a relatively high number of whales used to came aground at this part of the island of Ré.
On the left side of this postcard is the old tower lighthouse built in 1682.

Is that the Easter Bunny?
I guess there are a lot of donkeys on the island where the lighthouse is.
And the locals put pants on them - hence the pants on the picture.
