MS Majesty of the Seas is a Sovereign-class cruise ship owned and operated by Royal Caribbean International. She was built at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyards in Saint-Nazaire, France.

On January 12, 2007, she entered a 4-week dry-dock period where she underwent a multi-million dollar refurbishment of the pool decks, all public areas, restaurants, shops, centrums, and cabins. Additions include Johnny Rockets, The Compass Deli, Seattle's Best Coffee, Freeze ice cream, cabins, Boleros (Latin night club), and other Royal Caribbean Amenities.

42nd Street is a musical with a book by Michael Stewart and Mark Bramble, lyrics by Al Dubin, and music by Harry Warren. The 1980 Broadway production, directed by Gower Champion and orchestrated by Philip J. Lang, won the Tony Award for Best Musical and became a long-running hit. The show was produced in London in 1984 (winning the Olivier Award for Best Musical) and its 2001 Broadway revival won the Tony for Best Revival.

Based on the novel by Bradford Ropes and the subsequent 1933 film adaptation, it focuses on the efforts of director Julian Marsh to mount a successful stage production of a musical extravaganza at the height of the Great Depression.

An ossuary is a chest, building, well, or site made to serve as the final resting place of human skeletal remains. They are frequently used where burial space is scarce. A body is first buried in a temporary grave, then after some years the skeletal remains are removed and placed in an ossuary. The greatly reduced space taken up by an ossuary means that it is possible to store the remains of many more people in a single tomb than if the original coffins were left as is.

Bermuda - The Mid Ocean paradise with a 17th century background is the oldest self-governing Colony in the British Empire.  It lies 625 miles due east of the carolinas, 666 miles southeast of New York and 729 miles south of Halifax.  Comprised of four large islands and numerous small ones, Bermuda's total area is approximately 22 square miles and at no place is more than two miles wide.  A year-round resort, Bermuda's semi-tripical climate is mild and equable and is especially suited for all types of outdoor sports.  Its beaches of soft pink and white sand are among the most beautiful in the world.

Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009)

"Black or White" is a single by American singer-songwriter Michael Jackson. The song was released by Epic Records on November 11, 1991 as the first single from Jackson's eighth studio album, Dangerous. It was written, composed and produced by Michael Jackson and Bill Bottrell.

Controversy was generated concerning the last four minutes of the original music video. Jackson walks out of the studio as a black panther and then morphs into himself.  Then he walks outside to perform some of his most physically complicated dance techniques, in a similar way to "Billie Jean". This part contained suggestive scenes. In the original version, Jackson is seen smashing windows, destroying a car and causing an inn (called the "Royal Arms") to explode. Jackson later apologized saying that the violent and suggestive behavior was an interpretation of the animal instinct of a black panther.

One of the coolest parts of any video I have ever seen starts at about 3:30 or so of this clip...

In this brick shed at the rear of 58 Bagley Avenue, Mr. Ford carried on some of his early automobile experiments while employed as an engineer at the Edison Illuminating Company.   Three lathes, drill presses and hand tools are those used in building his first car.  The right hand door had to be torn out and made larger because Mr. Ford forgot to measure the door when he built the car inside.

Haleakalā National Park covers an area of 33,265 acres (134.62 km2), of which 19,270 acres (77.98 km2) is a wilderness area.

The name Haleakalā is Hawaiian for "house of the sun." According to a local legend, the demigod Maui imprisoned the sun here in order to lengthen the day.

This postcard has googly eyes that move.  There are only postcard lines on the back dividing the address side from the other and lines for the address. (from that I know it is from 1907 or later)

With the windmill and wooden shoes, I'm assuming this little boy is in the Netherlands.

The S$6.59 billion (US$4.93 billion) resort is one of the world's most expensive casino properties. The resort occupies over 49 hectares (121 acres) of land and, when fully open, will employ more than 10,000 people directly.

The thick lionlike mane is a distinctive feature of this primate.  Its dense, bristly coat is almost uniformly golden in color.  It lives in small groups in treetops and moves nimbly through branches searching for food.  It is mostly omnivorous; eating fruits, insects, lizard, and small birds.

Lion Country Safari is a drive-through safari park located in Loxahatchee (near West Palm Beach), in Palm Beach County, Florida. Founded in 1967, it claims to be the first 'cageless zoo' in the United States.

In 2009, USA Travel Guide named Lion Country the 3rd best zoo in the nation.

The sender writes that this biodome, which is now a zoo, is located in the former velodrome (an arena for track cycling) left over from the 1976 Olympic Games.

The Biodome is divided into four ecosystems: 

The Tropical Forest, (a replica of the South American rainforest)

The Laurentian Forest (a replica of the North American wilderness)

The Saint Lawrence Marine Eco-system (an estuary habitat modeled on the Gulf of Saint Lawrence)

and The Polar:  (an area divided into Arctic and Antarctic)

unused, real photo postcard (undivided back, so pre-1907- also, there is that silver sheen in the darker areas when you tilt it.)

Here is the problem with this postcard, Old Winnemucca died in 1860 and the first known real photo postcard dates at 1899.  And even though this is a rough looking scan, it is a very old postcard - so maybe it is his son, Winnemucca.  It looks like him anyway, and there are other pictures of him in soldiers uniforms.  He died in 1882, but he has a son named Natchez, so maybe this is him?? If anyone knows anything, I would love some help with this very interesting postcard!

Bramwell Booth (8 March 1856 – 16 June 1929) was the first Chief of Staff (1881–1912) and the second General of The Salvation Army (1912–1929), succeeding his father, William Booth.

Known to his family as 'Willie', as a youth he suffered poor health and had a slight hearing loss. In 1870, aged just 14, Bramwell Booth started to help in the management of his father's Christian Mission and in the cheap food kitchens set up in its early days. He had intended to study medicine and had a fear of public speaking, but despite these obstacles he became William Booth's, adviser and administrator.

The name The Salvation Army developed from an incident in May 1878. William Booth was dictating a letter to his secretary George Scott Railton and said, "We are a volunteer army." Bramwell Booth, heard his father and said, "Volunteer, I'm no volunteer, I'm a regular!" Railton was instructed to cross out the word "volunteer" and substitute the word "salvation".

I have seen cards like this before (and own a few) that are entry postcards to competitions.  I wonder in an employee takes the cards and sells them, or how they get out in public.  Below is a copy of the back of the card.  I 'white outed' the guys full name and address since I was posting this online.

The Daily Mirror is a British national daily tabloid newspaper which was founded in 1903. It had an average daily circulation of 1,058,488 in January 2013.

The Forties Oil Field is the largest oil field in the North Sea. It was discovered in 1970 and first produced oil in 1975 under ownership of BP. The production from the field peaked in 1979 at 500 thousand barrels per day (79×103 m3/d), well above early predictions.

When BP sold its 96% share in the field for $812 million in 2003, some traditionalists likened it to selling off the family silver.

Apache Corporation, who bought the field, immediately initiated an intensive re-evalutation of the field and found a further 800 million barrels (130×106 m3), extending the field's life by at least 20 years, making the investment by Apache a very profitable one.

Although they lost out on producing the additional reserves directly, retaining the Forties pipeline system allows BP to profit from Apache's exploration investments without needing to invest anything itself.

Plaza Libertad is the location of the Monumento de los Héroes (Monument to the Heroes), a commemoration of the centenary of the "First Cry of Independence" in 1811. The monument, designed by Francisco Durini Cáseres, and installed in 1911, is crowned by an "angel of freedom" at its pinnacle holding a laurel wreath in both hands.

I have no idea if this is true or not, I found it on the web.....

The fish is thought to have been chosen by the early Christians for several reasons:

The fish would not be an obvious Christian symbol to persecutors
Jesus' ministry is associated with fish: he chose several fishermen to be his disciples and declared he would make them "fishers of men."

It is said that during the persecution of the early church, a Christian meeting someone new would draw a single arc in the sand. If the other person was a Christian, he or she would complete the drawing of a fish with a second arc. If the second person was not a Christian, the randomness of the half-symbol would not reveal the first person as a Christian.

SiSwati (also known as Swati, Swazi or Siswati) is a Bantu language of the Nguni Group, spoken in Swaziland and South Africa. It has 2.5 million speakers and is taught in schools. It is an official language of Swaziland (along with English) and one of the official languages of South Africa.

About 76,000 people in the country speak Zulu. Tsonga, which is spoken by many people throughout the region is spoken by about 19,000 people in Swaziland. Afrikaans is also spoken by some residents of Afrikaner descent.

The north of canton Graubünden (with the city of Chur) is sometime considered to be part of Eastern Switzerland.

Pro Juventute is a charitable foundation in Switzerland established in 1912. It is dedicated to supporting the rights and needs of Swiss children and youth.
Since 1913, the Swiss post office has issued an annual charity stamp series to support the work of Pro Juventute.  So on the above stamp, 20 is for postage, and 10 goes to the charity.

Lloyd Lindroth (June 6, 1931 - June 9, 1994) was an American harpist who was nicknamed "The Liberace of the Harp". He had played for millions of people at the time of his death. A Seattle native, Lindroth began playing at age 14. In 1983, he moved to Nashville, where he would stay until his death, after a bout with pneumonia. He played many shows in Las Vegas, where he was buried.
