Jungle Babies from The Rainforest Cafe
Jungle Babies
Rainforest Cafe
Pop Art
This postcard features an alligator, gorilla, sloth, tiger, black panther, monkey, orangutan and a bird. It is postmarked in 2015 with a Johnny Cash stamp.

Rainforest Cafe is a themed restaurant chain. The first location opened in the Mall of America in Minnesota, USA on February 3, 1994.
Each Rainforest Cafe restaurant is designed to depict some features of a tropical rainforest, including plant growth, mist, waterfalls and figures of rainforest animals. Some of the animals are animatronic and start making animals noises and move. My favorite part of these restaurants is when there is a 'rain storm' inside. All the lights dim and there is 'lightning' and then it starts to rain inside the restaurant. Not on the customers, only in parts by the walls. But it is very fun. Our family loved to eat here every time we visited Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

Johnny Cash
Forever a first class rate
John R. "Johnny" Cash (February 26, 1932 – September 12, 2003) was an American singer-songwriter, actor, and author. Although he is primarily remembered as a country icon, his songs and sound spanned other genres including rock and roll, blues, folk, and gospel. This crossover appeal won Cash the rare honor of induction in the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the Gospel Music Hall of Fame.

Proboscis monkey (Nasalis carvatus) is confined to Borneo. It is mainly found in coastal swap forests. One of the largest monkeys in the world, the male proboscis monkey with its long and pendulous nose and outsized stomach has a harem of up to 10 females, attracted by his weird good looks. Feed mainly on leaves and seed of a variety of trees.
This was postmarked from Brunei with two Brunei Darussalam stamps in 2008.

The Television Show: Our Gang, Little Rascals
Our Gang
Shown is:
William Thomas as Buckwheat
and I think the other child is
Eugene Gordon Lee as Porky
I'm not sure which show had a monkey in it.
On a side note:
Porky originated the catchphrase "O-tay!", though it is commonly attributed to Buckwheat.

Our Gang (also known as The Little Rascals) is a series of American comedy short films about a group of poor neighborhood children and their adventures.
Starting in 1922, the Our Gang series includes 220 shorts and one feature film, General Spanky, featuring over forty-one child actors.

Golden Lion Tamarins in Lion Country Safari and The Biodome of Montreal
Lion Country Safari
Exotic Wildlife
#11571 Golden Lion Tamarin (Leontopithecus rosalia).
The thick lionlike mane is a distinctive feature of this primate. Its dense, bristly coat is almost uniformly golden in color. It lives in small groups in treetops and moves nimbly through branches searching for food. It is mostly omnivorous; eating fruits, insects, lizard, and small birds.

Lion Country Safari is a drive-through safari park located in Loxahatchee (near West Palm Beach), in Palm Beach County, Florida. Founded in 1967, it claims to be the first 'cageless zoo' in the United States.
In 2009, USA Travel Guide named Lion Country the 3rd best zoo in the nation.

Here is another postcard of a Tamarin...
Biodome de Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Tamarins dores, Biodome de Montreal
Golden Lion Tamarins, The Montreal Biodome
postmarked in 2009 with a Canada olympics stamp from 1998 featuring Miga
- - - - - -
The sender writes that this biodome, which is now a zoo, is located in the former velodrome (an arena for track cycling) left over from the 1976 Olympic Games.
The Biodome is divided into four ecosystems:
The Tropical Forest, (a replica of the South American rainforest)
The Laurentian Forest (a replica of the North American wilderness)
The Saint Lawrence Marine Eco-system (an estuary habitat modeled on the Gulf of Saint Lawrence)
and The Polar: (an area divided into Arctic and Antarctic)

you can see the biodome a little to the right and above the Olympic stadium on this postcard
- it is the smaller building with the lines on the roof:

Gibbon Rehabilitation Project, Phuket, Thailand
Photographs by Toffee Omyim
both postcards are postmarked in 2012 with a Thailand 'Seaside Tourist Spots of Thailand) stamp, 1. Hat Chao Mai 2. Ko Panyi

The following is from their website: http://www.gibbonproject.org
The Gibbon Rehabilitation Project (GRP) was set up in 1992 by Mr Noppadol Preuksawan, the chief of the Royal Forest Department in Phuket at that time, Mr. Thavrn Sri-Oon, Bang Pae Sub-Station chief, the Asian Wildlife Fund and an American Zoologist called Terrance Dillon Morin. In 1994 the Wild Animal Rescue Foundation of Thailand (WARF) started to support the project, we are now a research division of WARF.
Objectives (more information for each is on their webpage and information on how to adopt a gibbon for a year)...
1. Develop a method to successfully rehabilitate white-handed gibbons back into their natural habitat.
2. End the demand for the illegal use of gibbons as tourists attractions and as pets.
3. To repopulate the last remaining rainforest in Phuket-Khao Pra Theaw Non-Hunting Area (National Park, Wildlife and Plant Conservation Department).
4. To create awareness of the importance of conservation of the environment.
5. Provide the opportunity for volunteers to study the white-handed gibbon.

Orangutans
Keep cool!
postmarked in 2010 with two Germany stamps
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The orangutans are the only exclusively Asian living genus of great ape. They are among the most intelligent primates and use a variety of sophisticated tools, also making sleeping nests each night from branches and foliage. They are generally not aggressive and live a mostly solitary life foraging for food. Their hair is typically reddish-brown, instead of the brown or black hair typical of other great apes.

How to Make a Sock Monkey

Sock Monkey Makings
You can make this monkey from one pair of white heavy cotton worksocks. One sock becomes the head, body and legs, and the other becomes arms, tail, muzzle and ears. The eyes are buttons and the mouth is red stitching. Follow directions given in the sketches. After stuffing the body, fill the arms and tail. Sew these together, then connect muzzle and ears to body and head. Make some cute little cloths, and dress!
1. Turn one sock inside out.
2. Stitch along dotted lines.
3. Cut legs apart.
4. Remove 2 inches of stitching at this point.
5. Turn right side out.
6. Stuff head and tie.
7. Stuff body and legs.
8. Finally, resew stitching.
Ears: Cut and fold squares, connect corners and stitch.
