The Singing 'Looney Tunes' Frog... One Froggy Evening

Hello,
My Baby!
Hello, My
Honey ...

This singing frog is from Looney Tunes and was printed in 1999.

One Froggy Evening is an approximately seven-minute long Technicolor animated short film written by Michael Maltese and directed by Chuck Jones, with musical direction by Milt Franklyn. The short marks the debut of Michigan J. Frog. This popular short contained a wide variety of musical entertainment, with songs ranging from "Hello! Ma Baby" and "I'm Just Wild About Harry", two Tin Pan Alley classics, to "Largo al Factotum", Figaro's aria from the opera Il Barbiere di Siviglia. The short was released on December 31, 1955 as part of Warner Brothers' Merrie Melodies series of cartoons.

Steven Spielberg, in the PBS Chuck Jones biography Extremes & Inbetweens: A Life In Animation, called One Froggy Evening "the Citizen Kane of animated film." (Looney Tunes Golden Collection, Volume 5, Disc 2) In 1994 it was voted # 5 of the 50 Greatest Cartoons of all time by members of the animation field. In 2003 the United States Library of Congress deemed the film "culturally significant" and selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry.

You can watch the cartoon HERE.   It is just over six minutes long.

The common coqui is a tiny frog native to Puerto Rico that gets its name from a repetitious and unique calling sound (Ko-kee) made by the male of the species from dusk until dawn.  A nocturnal predator, these amphibians have padded discs at the end of webless toes allowing them to climb branches and leaves with ease.

The sender writes:

We actually got to see one of these - a baby one.  They sing a pretty sound.  We heard them during our hike.

Fly Away With Me! (A Frog in Goggles)

 Fly away with me!

This frog wearing a scarf and goggles is postmarked in 2014 from the Netherlands.

Here’s a thought, people wear eye goggles to protect their eyes from things like bugs hitting them, and frogs eat bugs, so would this little guy lick his goggles clean after using them?

The Red-eyed Tree-frog is one of Australia's most colourful frogs. It is rarely seen as it lives high in the canopy of eastern coastal wet forests, but after rain hundreds of males come to the ground and call to females to breed.

Poison dart frog is the common name of a group of frogs in the family Dendrobatidae which are native to Central and South America. These species often have brightly-colored bodies. Many species are critically endangered.
