Modernistic buildings illustrating Boston's faith in the future contrast dramatically with colonial Faneuil Hall.  In the City Hall, the J.F.K. Federal Building public servants work to preserve the "new" ideas of freedom introduced in Faneuil Hall long before the American Revolution.

This is a composite photograph produced from 24 individual images taken by the Hubble Space Telescope and is the most detailed image of the Crab Nebula that has been produced to date.

The postcard was mailed in 2014 with one Aloha stamp and two Tiffany Lamp stamps.

This is a 1954 postcard from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Mostar was named after the bridge keepers (mostari) who in the medieval times guarded the Stari Most (Old Bridge) over the Neretva. The Old Bridge (An UNESCO site) was built by the Ottomans in the 16th century and is one of Bosnia and Herzegovina's most recognizable landmarks.

Tirta Empul temple is a Hindu Balinese water temple. The temple compound consists of a bathing structure, famous for its holy spring water, where Balinese Hindus go to for ritual purification.

Tirta Empul means Holy Spring in Balinese.

Mercury-Atlas 6 (MA-6) was the third human spaceflight for the U.S. and part of Project Mercury. Conducted by NASA on February 20, 1962, the mission was piloted by astronaut John Glenn, who performed three orbits of the Earth, making him the first U.S. astronaut to orbit the Earth.

Both of these unused postcard were bought in 2015 at a fun place called Robbie's in the Florida Keys. There are little shops to buy local artists work and you can walk out on the dock (for a small fee) and feed the tarpon fish!   They are wild tarpon, in the ocean.  There are no pens or nets keeping them there, I like that.  :D

The Dos Valires Tunnel is a major road tunnel in Andorra linking the two upper Andorran parishes of La Massana and Encamp. It is 2.922 kilometres (1.816 mi) long.

The construction of the tunnel was started in 2005 but was halted in 2009 after one of the viaducts at the La Massana entrance collapsed and killed 5 Portuguese construction workers.

Glaciers in Kyrgystan are so numerous (about 3,000 of them) and cover so much space (6,500 km2) that some of them remain nameless.  Their slow descent forms the valleys of the Tien-Shan mountain range, second only to the Himalayas for its numerous peaks.  The highest one, Pobedy Peak, is 7,439 m high.  At the heart of Central Asia, surrounded by Uzbekistan, Tadzhikistan, Kasakhstan, the Kygys territory is thus perched at an average height of over 3,000 m.   High mountains cover close to 95% of the area, leaving very little space for sedentary agriculture.  In fact, the whole country remains attached to its nomadic tradition, which is still very much alive today.

Otavalo, capital of Otavalo Canton, is a largely indigenous town in the Imbabura Province of Ecuador. The town is surrounded by the peaks of Imbabura (4,630 metres (15,190 ft)), Cotacachi (4,995 metres (16,388 ft)), and Mojanda volcanoes.

 The Hiladora is also known as the spinning jenny.  It is a multi-spindle spinning frame invented in 1764 by James Hargreaves to produce yarn.

STS-41-B was the tenth NASA Space Shuttle mission and the fourth flight of the Space Shuttle Challenger. It launched on February 3, 1984, and landed on February 11 after deploying two communications satellites. It was also notable for including the first untethered spacewalk.

The White House was designed by James Hoban and sits on beautifully landscaped grounds.  This house has been the home of every President since John Adams.  The President and his family live on the second floor.  The West Wing is used for daily political and national business.  The east wing is where the First Lady meets guests.

The White House, Washington D.C.

From the time of John Adams to the present, the White House has been the home of the presidents.  The cornerstone was laid in 1792, and it was constructed of Virginia freestone.  During the war of 1812 it was set afire by the British and only the walls were left standing; when restored, the exterior was painted white to hide the scars of the fire.
