Martin Van Buren (December 5, 1782 – July 24, 1862), nicknamed Old Kinderhook, was the eighth President of the United States from 1837 to 1841. Before his presidency he served as the eighth Vice President (1833-1837) and the 10th Secretary of State under Andrew Jackson. He was a key organizer of the Democratic Party, a dominant figure in the Second Party System, and the first president who was not of English, Irish, Welsh, or Scottish descent. Van Buren was the first President who did not experience the American Revolution firsthand. He is also the only president not to have spoken English as a first language, having grown up speaking Dutch.

Lakeland, Florida
Big Oak, Lake Morton Drive, Lakeland, Florida. - postmarked in 1925 with 1 cent Franklin stamp
I LOVE Lakeland. We've lived in quite a few different cities, and Lakeland is my favorite. (so far;-)They close the downtown roads on the first Friday of every month. Then hire bands to come in and play live music. Vendors are selling food, etc. Families take their dogs and walk around. It's so wonderful!
Here is some info:
Lakeland is a city in Polk County, Florida, United States, located approximately midway between Tampa and Orlando along Interstate 4. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 78,452 and is the largest city in Polk County.
Lakeland was first settled in the 1870s, developed as the railroad reached the area in 1884, and was incorporated January 1, 1885. The town was founded by Abraham Munn (a resident of Louisville, Kentucky), who purchased 80 acres of land in what is now downtown Lakeland in 1882 and platted the land for the town in 1884. Among the names considered (and rejected) for the town by its residents were Munnville, Red Bug and Rome City.

Star Wars - Gamorrean guard (nicknamed Pig Guard)
Star Wars Poscard Book - Gamorrean guard (nicknamed "Pig Guard") - funn-head mask, 35 X 38 X 52 cm. - unused
This is from a postcard book of 30 pre-production images from Star Wars.

A Gamorrean is a large pig-like creature from the fictional Star Wars series. The creatures have little intelligence and are often hired as guards, mostly by Jabba the Hutt, who was fond of hiring them due to their low cost. On their home planet, Gamorreans exist in a sort of tribal political system dominated by the female sows.
Physically, Gamorreans appear in Return of the Jedi as greenish, slimy (and apparently smelly) pig-like creatures. They are about 1.8 metres (6 ft) tall and weigh about 100 kilograms (220 lb). Jabba the Hutt was known to use dim-witted Gamorreans as enforcers and bodyguards.

Star Wars Postcard book 2007
I cut the back cover off of an extra Star Wars Postcard book and stamped it with the Star Wars 41 cent stamp 'Princess Leia & R2-D2' (the stamp I voted for ;-) Then sent it through the mail to be postmarked on July 11, 2007
The bottom of the 'postcard' reads:
For 30 years, the Star Wars saga has thrilled moviegoers with its epic story of good versus evil. Set across a fantastic galaxy of exotic planets and bizarre creatures, the saga tells the mythic tale of the disintegration of the Old Republic, the creation of the Empire, the rise of the evil Darth Vader, and the ultimate victory of the Rebel Alliance. From the wisdom and power of the Jedi masters to the brave deeds of probable heroes, Star Wars has inspired generations of fans with its unbridled sense of adventure, advancing the art of filmmaking while leaving an indelible mark on our cultural imagination.

Looking North on Main Street, Nashua, N.H.
This is an unused 'Plastichrome' postcard.
Some of the signs are Coca-Cola, a shoe store, Sears Roebuck, and it looks like maybe a theatre too. Of course I love the vintage cars in the postcard too.

The Cathedral of St. Basil in Moscow Russia
This postcard is postmarked from Russia in 2007.
From Wikipedia:
The Cathedral of Intercession of the Virgin on the Moat is a multi-tented church on the Red Square in Moscow that also features distinctive onion domes. The cathedral is traditionally perceived as symbolic of the unique position of Russia between Europe and Asia.
The cathedral was commissioned by Ivan IV (also known as Ivan the Terrible) and built between 1555 and 1561 in Moscow to commemorate the capture of the Khanate of Kazan. In 1588 Tsar Fedor Ivanovich had a chapel added on the eastern side above the grave of Basil Fool for Christ (yurodivy Vassily Blazhenny), a Russian Orthodox saint after whom the cathedral was popularly named.
