Major League Baseball during World War II:

The onset of World War II created a significant shortage of professional baseball players, as more than 500 men left MLB teams to serve in the military.  Also, wartime blackout restrictions, designed to keep outdoor lighting at low levels, caused another problem for baseball. These rules limited traveling and night games to the point that the 1942 season nearly had to be cancelled. On January 14, 1942, MLB Commissioner Kenesaw Mountain Landis wrote a letter to U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt and pleaded for the continuation of baseball during the war in hopes for a start of a new major league season. President Roosevelt responded, "I honestly feel that it would be best for the country to keep baseball going. There will be fewer people unemployed and everybody will work longer hours and harder than ever before. And that means that they ought to have a chance for recreation and for taking their minds off their work even more than before."  So with the approval of President Roosevelt, spring training began in 1942.

Various effects can be achieved by moving both the puppets and the light source. A talented puppeteer can make the figures appear to walk, dance, fight, nod and laugh.

Tunisie (Tunisia)
The friendship view card

This postcard is postmarked in 2013 with a Tunisia grapes stamp.

- - - - - - -

There is no writing on the postcard to tell what these places are.  However, I think the bottom center is Matmata.

Matmata is a small town in southern Tunisia. The structures typical for the village are created by digging a large pit in the ground. Around the perimeter of this pit artificial caves are then dug to be used as rooms, with some homes comprising multiple pits, connected by trench-like passageways.

Car Troubles, A Flooded Engine

"Of course, it's nothing serious, honey...just a flooded engine."
Original Art by Dan Reynolds

She drove her car a long way though the grass to drive the car into the ocean.  And why is there a plant on her head?  Her shoe is probably stuck in the mud, so that I understand.  But the biggest question is, why is there a phone booth in the middle of nowhere? Anyway, it is a funny postcard, and I think it is wonderful  :D

It is unused, and is from 2012.
