Henry Timrod Schoolhouse, Florence, South Carolina
Henry Timrod (1830-1867) known as the "Laureate of the Confederacy," because he composed so many of its most enduring songs, taught school in this building in 1858. It was then situated four miles from Florence, to which city it was removed in 1930 and converted into a "Timrod Shrine."
