Space views from the Hubble Telescope
Core of Galaxy NGC 4261
Located 45 million light-years away and estimated to be 300 light-years across, the giant elliptical galaxy NGC 4261 is one of the twelve brightest galaxies in the Virgo cluster.
The sender writes, " 300 light-years across = approx 1,76354994 X 10 (with a little 18 to the right of the 10) miles across! WOW! that's 3 times larger than our own galaxy."
This postcard is postmarked in 2007.
