Westport, the westernmost port in the Massachusetts Bay Colony, was settled in 1670 and borders the State of Rhode Island. The town is known as a "right-to-farm" community, with the Macomb turnip, sunflowers, corn, and pumpkins being among the most popular corps. With 33 miles of shoreline, recreational activities abound especially at Horseneck Beach, a popular summer destination.
