A buffalypso is a Trinidad -bred buffalo .
Water Buffalo were first introduced in Trinidad in 1906 from India. In 1950 they started to breed these water buffaloes in order to improve meat production. In 1964 it was decided that the variant sufficiently bred was to be appointed as a separate breed: the buffalypso - a contraction of buffalo and calypso.
