The Burj Khalifa Building in Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Dubai - New Year Celebration at Burj Khalifa

postmarked in 2013 with three United Arab Emirates stamps

- - - - - - -

Burj Khalifa known as Burj Dubai prior to its inauguration, is a skyscraper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and is the tallest man-made structure in the world, at 829.8 m (2,722 ft).

Construction began on 21 September 2004, with the exterior of the structure completed on 1 October 2009. The building officially opened on 4 January 2010.

In March 2009, Mohamed Ali Alabbar, chairman of the project's developer, estimated the total cost for the project to be about US$1.5 billion.

- - -

To wash the 24,348 windows, totaling 120,000 m2 (1,290,000 sq ft) of glass, a horizontal track has been installed on the exterior of Burj Khalifa at levels 40, 73, and 109. Each track holds a 1,500 kg (3,300 lb) bucket machine which moves horizontally and then vertically using heavy cables. Above level 109, up to tier 27 traditional cradles from davits are used. The top of the spire, however, is reserved for specialist window cleaners, who brave the heights and high winds dangling by ropes to clean and inspect the top of the pinnacle. Under normal conditions, when all building maintenance units will be operational, it will take 36 workers three to four months to clean the entire exterior façade.

Unmanned machines will clean the top 27 additional tiers and the glass spire. The cleaning system was developed in Melbourne, Australia at a cost of $8 million.

How to Experience New Life in Christ - A Christian Postcard

How to Experience New Life in Christ

Everyone is a sinner and is separated from God.
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" - Romans 3:23

God loved us all so much that He gave His Son to die for our sins.
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, christ died for us" - Romans 5:8

Death means separation forever from God.  Eternal life comes by trusting Jesus Christ.
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" - Romans 6:23

In order to begin your new life in Christ (be saved), you must believe that Jesus died for your sins and declare that you accept Him as Savior.  "If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved" - Romans 10:9

If you would like to accept Jesus now, pray the following prayer.

Dear God, I know I have sinned and I want to ask for your forgiveness.  I believe that Jesus died for my sins.  I now accept your offer of eternal life.  I will follow Jesus as my Savior and try to obey Him in all that I do.  Thank you for my new life.  In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.

This postcard was printed in 1999 and postmarked in 2013.

Surprised Looking Santa

Happy Holidays
- and happiness always!

Christmas Post Card

unused (maybe from the 1980's)

Santa's face is too funny! He looks like the cat in his hand just started talking.  Also check out the 'hood ornament' on santa's sleigh, what is the elf putting on it? It looks like a cover for a light you see on the street.   I looked at it closely with a magnifying glass and it looks big enough to put over the cherubim's head.

The architecture of many of the façades and buildings reflects traditional Danish style. There is a copy of the famous Little Mermaid statue from Copenhagen, as well as one featuring the bust of famed Danish fable writer Hans Christian Andersen. A replica of Copenhagen's Round Tower or Rundetårn in the scale 1:3 was finished in 1991 and can be seen in the town center.

On December 17, 1903, Orville Wright piloted the first powered airplane 120 feet (37m) in 12 seconds, at a speed of only 6.8 miles per hour (10.9 km/h) in North Carolina.  Three more flights were made that day with Wilbur piloting the record flight lasting 59 seconds over a distance of 825 feet.

The last time the world record was broken was on July 28, 1976 by Captain Eldon Joersz and Major George Morgan going 2,193.2 miles per hour in a Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird.  I have postcards about that HERE.

A Poem called: I Don't Care

I Don't Care

I saw you with another girl, but I don't care,

Perhaps you think you made me mad, but I don't care.
Some other boy will make me glad, so I don't care.
