The Flatiron Building in New York City - Then and Now

Any wedge-shaped building is given the name "Flatiron" because of its resemblance to a cast-iron clothes iron.

Note the date above is 1904, and unfinished, yet here is a card from 1903 ....

The Flatiron Building built in 1902 is considered to be one of the first skyscrapers ever built.  The building sits on a triangular island block at 23rd Street, Fifth Avenue, and Broadway.

The ad in the back of this postcard is for the Instinct phone from Sprint, and that came out in 2008.
