Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt (October 27, 1858 – January 6, 1919) was the 26th President of the United States (1901–1909). He is noted for his exuberant personality, achievements, as well as his "cowboy" persona and robust masculinity. His achievements as a naturalist, explorer, hunter, author, and soldier are as much a part of his fame as any office he held as a politician.

This was postmarked in 2011 with three Germany stamps from the Postcrossing (The Postcard Project) meet-up in Bielefeld, Germany and signed by 49 members.

This is an illustration from the book 'Tierisch Unter Strom by Peter Gut.  It is a book where, from what I understand, animals test machines.  A cat rides fan blades like a carouse, and as in the postcard above, zebras test the catapult power of a toaster.  It is the animals way of braking the same old routine.

 Brienzersee (Lake Brienz)

Brienzer Rothorn (Mountain in the Swiss Alps), Schwanden, Axalp, Brienz, Giessbach

postmarked in 2011 with four Switzerland stamps, three of which are vintage!

Lake Brienz (German: Brienzersee) is a lake just north of the Alps, in the Canton of Berne in Switzerland. The lake took its name from the village Brienz on its northern shore. The shores are steep, and there is almost no shallow water in the entire lake.

The summit of the Brienzer Rothorn can be reached from Brienz by the Brienz Rothorn Bahn (the steam train in the postcard).

If your New Year's Resolution is to create more music, we can help.
Upgrade to Finale 2011

I love the front of this advertising postcard showing the sheet music for Auld Lang Syne!

postmarked in 2010 with a machine stamp

"Auld Lang Syne" is a Scottish poem written by Robert Burns in 1788 and set to the tune of a traditional folk song. It is well known in many English-speaking (and other) countries and is often sung to celebrate the start of the New Year at the stroke of midnight.

The song's Scots title may be translated into English literally as "old long since", or "old times". Consequently "For auld lang syne", as it appears in the first line of the chorus, is loosely translated as "for (the sake of) old times".

The song begins by posing a rhetorical question as to whether it is right that old times be forgotten, and is generally interpreted as a call to remember long-standing friendships.

Mubarak Mahal in India

Mubarak Mahal, meaning the 'Auspicious Palace', was built in 1990 by Maharaja Madho Singh II as a reception center. It is now a museum, mostly known for its variety of textiles such as the royal formal costumes, sanganeri block prints, embroidered shawls and silk saris. One of the displays to see here is the set of very large clothes worn by Sawai Madhosingh I, who was  two metres (6.6 feet) tall and weighed 250 kilograms (550 pounds).

postmarked in 1971 with 8 cent Eisenhower stamp

The Mickey Mouse Revue was an indoor stage show acted by audio-animatronic performers in the Fantasyland area of Magic Kingdom park and was one of the three original attractions on its opening day.  From Florida it was sent to Tokyo Disneyland.  I do not believe it exists anymore.

Dreams in Helsinki, Finland

Virka (Post in Finnish)
There are three of these postcards in three languages, they are for people to write on the postcard and send it in to 'Reveal what the Helsinki (Finland) of your dreams is like'.

The front of the card in Swedish has galleri, which is Swedish for Gallery, the front of the card in English has galleria, which is Finnish for gallery, and the card written in Finnish just has a bunch of stars.

This is a great postcard set !! And Bravo to Helsinki for coming up with this idea  :D

All of these unused postcards are from 2011.

Metal Totems

When opinions are too strong for mere words, M. T. Liggett expresses himself with a torch and scrap metal.  Since retiring from the Air Force in 1989, he has lined the perimeter of his property along U.S. Highway 54 with hundreds of metal manifestos, many of them animated by the wind.  A sampling of his totems can bee seen at
