Church of the Intercession on the Nerl River in Russia

Church of Intercession on the Nerl.  1165.
Masterpiece of Vladimir-Suzdal white stone architecture, one of the most perfect creations of the builders of Ancient Russia.  This world-famous church was built to commemorate Prince Andrei Bogolubsky's victorious campaign against the Volga Bulgars.

This postcard is postmarked in 2014 with 5 Russian stamps from 2009. (two for 6.00, two for 5.00 and one for 4.00)

The Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin on the Nerl River is an Orthodox church and a symbol of medieval Russia.

In 1992, the church was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the site White Monuments of Vladimir and Suzdal.
