Manhattan's first commercial heliport was opened in 1956. Scheduled passenger, mail and cargo service between the heliport and Newark, Teterboro, La Guardia and John F. Kennedy International airports, and the cities of White Plains, New York, and Stamford Connecticut is provided by New York Airways' 15-passenger helicopters.
