Nebraska - The Cornhusker State

"Nebraska" is from an Indian word meaning "Flat water".  This word, "Nebrathka", was another name for the Platte River.  Now, a few more interesting facts about our state....

Statehood: March 1, 1867 - the 37th state
Area: 16th largest state
